This four-part video series covers the topics outlined in the National Science Education Standards, AAAS Benchmarks for Science Literacy and major texts. The Grasslands program explores the global distribution of grasslands, and the role that temperature, precipitation, soil type, and fire play in this biome. The Deserts and the Tundra program investigates these two biomes, including its soils, plants and animals. Forests explores the trees, plants and animals of the world’s largest biome, focusing on northern coniferous, temperate deciduous, subtropical and tropical forests. In the Water program ocean zones, marine life, estuaries and various fresh water environments are explored.
Each interactive video is followed by a 10-questions Video Quiz and is accompanied by a teacher-friendly guide containing numerous student activities and assessment tools. Extra features on the DVD include indexes, labeled slides, glossary, animations, English subtitles, and an iMovie project.
