This four-part video series covers the topics outlined in the National Science Education Standards, AAAS Benchmarks for Science Literacy and major texts. The Classifying Life program explores the major Kingdoms of Life and the process of taxonomy. Classifying Monerans and Protists highlights the major characteristics of Eubacteria and Archaebacteria as well as the Kingdom Protista. The Classifying Plants and Fungi video discusses the major taxonomic categories, as well as the specific characteristics of these organisms. Classifying Animals explains the taxonomy of the different invertebrate and vertebrate phyla, emphasizing the evolutionary relationships of the various phyla.
Each interactive video is followed by a 10-question Video Quiz and is accompanied by a teacher-friendly guide containing numerous student activities and assessment tools. Extra features on the DVD include indexes, labeled slides, glossary, animations, English subtitles, and an iMovie project.
