This four-part series covers the topics outlined in the National Science Education Standards, AAAS Benchmarks for Science Literacy and major texts. Heredity introduces the idea of the inheritance of traits in both plants and animals, including recessive and dominant traits. In Fundamentals of Genetics Gregor Mendel’s work is explored in detail and the use of the Punnett Square is illustrated. Genetics in Action discusses the genetic discoveries made in the 20th century, including the Law of Segregation and the Law of Independent Assortment. Genetics in Our Lives takes a glimpse of some of the advances made in modern genetics, including the discovery of DNA, vaccines, and human genome project.
Each interactive video is followed by a 10-question Video Quiz and is accompanied by a teacher-friendly guide containing numerous student activities and assessment tools. Extra features on the DVD include indexes, labeled slides, glossary, animations, English subtitles, and an iMovie project.
